In 1746 Maraldi discovered the globular clusters M 2 and M 15 with a 4" refractor while searching for De Chéseaux' comet at Paris. They observations are published in: Maraldi, J.-D., Observations de la Comète qui a paru au mois d'Aout 1746, Mém. Acad. Roy. des Sciences pour 1746, 55-62 (1751).
