Hagen is famous for his observations of 5800 NGC objects with
the 16" refractor at Vatican Observatory, Castelgandolfo, starting in 1911.
The result was published 1922 as A preparatory
catalogue for a
Durchmusterung of nebulae. The zone catalogue. Also known are the obscure
Hagen clouds.
