Coolidge discovered 9 NGC-objects, using the 15" f/18 Merz refractor of harvard College Observatory, installed in June 1847. Alas, no non-stellar object is among them! The observations were published by the director of Harvard College Observatory George Phillips Bond (among others by Bond, Safford and Tuttle): Bond, G.
