Obituary: AN 137, 367 (1895)
Brorsen discovered one NGC object: the globular cluster NGC 6539 in Ophiuchus. He found it at Senftenberg Observatory (Zamberk castle) using a 9.6" refractor in 1856. It is included as #39 in Arthur Auwers' list of new nebulae in William Herschel's Verzeichnisse von Nebelflecken und Sternhaufen, Königsberg 1862. Brorsen has also found NGC 2024 near Zeta Ori in 1850, but this nebula had already be found in 1786 by William Herschel (V 28).
